About Careful It Bites

A smiling woman with short brown hair, wearing a red top with floral patterns and large round earrings in green and white, stands outdoors. Blurred greenery and flowers create a charming backdrop, echoing the warmth of cuddly companions as her dimples and freckles add to her cheerful demeanor.

Welcome to Careful It Bites! I'm Kelice, the heart and hands behind every whimsical creation you see here.

Based in a cozy, wooded corner of Port Orchard, WA, my mission is to craft stuffed animals that are more than just toys – they are cherished companions that bring joy and comfort to people of all ages.

My story

Careful It Bites began from my deep love for crafting and a desire to spread happiness through handmade creations.

I have allllways made little creatures – pompoms and pipe cleaners were my first art mediums (and hot glue! I have the scars to prove it😬)

But since learning how to sew in my early twenties, I have taken my craft up a few notches!

My Craft

Every step of my work is handmade with care. From the initial sketches to drawing patterns, cutting fabrics, and meticulously sewing each piece, I pour my heart into every detail.

This hands-on approach ensures that every stuffed animal is a one-of-a-kind creation, full of character and whimsy.

    Initial Sketches

  • A pile of half finished plush animals lay strategically upon each other with scissors and copper faux fur.

Sparking joy + imagination since 2009

Every stuffed animal at Careful It Bites is more than just a product – it’s a friend. I take special delight in naming each creation and crafting detailed signage that tells its story. Whether it’s a quirky creature with a funny face or a soft, huggable companion, my creations are designed to spark joy and imagination.

Seattle Community

For over a decade, I've had the privilege of being a vendor at Pike Place Market, one of Seattle's most iconic locations.

Being there has taught me so much about truly being part of a handmade community, and how people from all over the globe see my plush creations.

Knowing that my stuffed animals are bought there and then make their way back with their new owners to far-flung parts of the world to bring comfort and joy is incredibly fulfilling.
